Peter Parker's life has not been easy. After being bitten by a radioactive spider, he finds himself having to balance his normal life with regular duties, which include stopping crime and fighting bad guys. And when the people in charge decide that it is time for him to be replaced because of all the problems he has caused them, Peter finds himself face-to-face with an old foe. And because of the events that happen during this film, he finds himself with a new ally. The film opened at #2 behind "Despicable Me 3" on its opening weekend in North America, earning $117 million in its first 6 days of release. It grossed $258 million in North America and $333.2 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $561.2 million, against a production budget of $175 million. Despite making less money than the first two films, it was still considered to be another box office success for Sony Pictures Entertainment since it cost significantly less to produce than the other entries, while still being successful enough to be considered for an immediate sequel due to setting up future sequels. On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 69% based on 283 reviews and an average rating of 7/10. The website's critical consensus reads, "Spider-Man: Homecoming updates the origin with a lighter hand and a younger cast, making it more of a coming-of-age story than a superhero origin movie." On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 70 out of 100, based on 50 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". In CinemaScore polls conducted during the opening weekend, cinema audiences gave the film an average grade of "A-" on an A+ to F scale. Writing for "Rolling Stone", Peter Travers gave the film 3.5 out of 4 stars, saying that "A high-flying sixth sense [and] a wicked, whip-smart wit lend new power to Peter Parker's streetwise Marvel saga. It hits every note right. This Spider-Man soars. You have to see it to believe it." Writing for "The Wrap", Alonso Duralde rated the film 4 out of 5 stars, saying that "The story is a pleasure, hitting its mark with big laughs, big thrills and big action set-pieces that are faithful to the comic book canon. Tom Holland has settled into the role seamlessly." Writing for IGN, Eric Eisenberg gave the film 8.5 out of 10 stars, saying that "Homecoming is a film about how kids learn to face their fears. That's pretty much all there is to it. It's an honest take on high school drama without being too dour or preachy about dealing with problems head on. cfa1e77820
